“I have seen countless examples of women pulling each other down because they felt another woman’s success made theirs less. This is not only entirely unnecessary but so incredibly damaging as well. I am motivated and passionate to make this change both for the sake of my children, and ‘woman kind’.
One woman is capable of so much… Imagine all of us together! Wow…
Gems for Gems is a terrific movement to create that change and I’m so excited/ grateful to have the team we do! The sky is truly the limit!”
I am so honoured to be even a small part of an organization that empowers and builds women up. I look forward to encouraging change in women and helping them realize and achieve all of their capabilities and goals through Gems for Gems.”
“Gems for Gems is a great organization that provides a positive forum for women to work together in support of each other. I am looking forward to connecting with all the wonderful women in this organization as well as paying forward all the kindness, generosity and support I was lucky enough to receive when I first moved here.”
“What I love most about Gems for Gems is that it is a group created to support women in their many different fields of work and life. It creates a sense of empowerment and encourages women to go after their dreams.”
‘When I moved to Calgary in January 2015 my self-esteem and confidence were really low. I have been shown support, trust, guidance and friendship by so many women when I started my first job at Orangetheory Fitness Seton! Owners, trainers, coworkers and members in the gym helped me achieve what I have right now and would never think of – it’s thanks to them that I run the store today!
Joining Gems for Gems means now it’s my time to pay it forward and help women in achieving their ”impossible”.’
We have a Nova Scotian Gem joining our ranks! I’d like to welcome Alicia Dobranowski! She is ready to lead the charge for the Christmas Jewelry Drive 2017 in Nova Scotia!

“I feel honoured to be a ‘long distance’ Gem and so lucky to always have had strong support network of wonderful women around me. It’s so wonderful to be a part of an amazing team of women focused on supporting and building women up. We all need a hand to reach our potential and I’m so happy to be a part of that for others through Gems for Gems!”
Welcome to our newest Gem Rory Salahor! So happy to have you!
“2017 brings me to 7 years in the beauty industry as a hairstylist. I love being able to empower women by making them feel beautiful. Unfortunately, not all women have the opportunity to treat themselves. I love the vision that gems for gems carries and am looking forward to being a part of a team who is so motivated to follow it through!
“I grew up in the town of Okotoks just south of Calgary. In high school I was always very involved in the community. It made me happy to be a part of the change that I wanted to see. Since graduating I’ve felt as though I’m not doing my part in helping the community move forward. “
‘I believe in this movement WHOLE heartedly. I believe in its origins, and goals for the future. The whole purpose of this group is to make a difference, create a awareness and hopefully change. I’m honoured to be a part of it.’
Adrianna graduated with a BA of Psychology from Laurentian University in 2007 and made the decision to move to Calgary in March 2008 for a fresh start.
“I am beyond excited to be part of the Gems for Gems. I believe in this cause and I love that this group of women are building each other up rather then tearing each other down!”
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
I am beyond honoured to work and to become a ‘Gem’ and can’t wait to see what the future of becoming a Gem has to offer. ‘Gems for Gems’ consists of a variety of hard working, caring, and amazing women who want to make a difference in other women’s lives.
“I am honoured to be a ‘Gem’ and look forward to working with amazing women who are caring, compassionate and driven! I know Gems for Gems has and will continue to make a difference in the lives of many women. I’m so proud to be a part of this team! I have been loved and supported by countless amazing women and I look at this as an opportunity to pay it forward. “
My friends know me as the “forever student” with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. I have a love of languages and expanding my worldview through learning about other cultures. I thoroughly believe that diversity is the spice of life! Most recently I have spent the last few years working on my American Sign Language skills through Nova Scotia Community College and consider myself a strong ally to the Deaf community.
Great day for Gems for Gems! We have another member to welcome! Desiree Benvenuti! Happy to have you on board! I have always believed in seeing the good in people, to build them up instead of breaking them down. When people experience trauma or have been exposed to a bad environment they need love and support, […]
Gems for Gems has a new member! This lovely lady has been active in her community, a dedicated student, steadfast in pursuit of a career with children and just a wonderful kind woman! Welcome Leanne!
“The inspiration behind gems for gems is truly touching. I love that it brings women together, to help other women and their families. There are so many aspects of this organization to be involved with. Jordan has been an amazing friend to me over the years. I’m so grateful to be part of this journey!”
‘I am honoured and humbled to be a part of such an amazing group of women. I have always enjoyed being able to “give back” to the community whenever possible and by becoming a “Gem” this gives me the opportunity to do so on a much larger scale! Looking forward to what the future of Gems has to offer the many deserving ladies of Calgary!”
A warm welcome to Britt Mastroianni! Wonderful to have you as one of the Gems! She will specifically be aiding Alicia Marie in the Christmas Jewelry Drive in Nova Scotia this year!

Since then, Brittany moved to the co-op sector and currently works at Just Us! Coffee Roasters Co-operative with a focus on sales and marketing.
“What this group of amazing women have already done for the deserving ladies of Calgary is absolutely awesome – I cannot wait to be part of this group to see what future projects are ahead.”
“I truly believe women are strong because of our hearts, how deeply we can love, how that love can allow us to create life and do the impossible. Jordan and the other Gems are walking embodiments of the strength of love. When we feel a sense of Sisterhood we are able to step into that strength with more grace and confidence than when we feel we are standing alone…”
I am from Nova Scotia and have been living in Calgary for the past 3 years with my husband, son, daughter and 2 fur babies. I am a stay at home mom who runs a small local crafting business which nurtures my creative side in a way that my previous work in the corporate world didn’t. Gems for Gems is such an exciting opportunity for me to give back to the community, set an example for my children and be a part of an amazing organization focused on empowering and encouraging women to be the best and brightest version of themselves. I am thrilled and honoured to be on the team and can’t wait to see what amazing things will unfold on this journey with such a talented group of women.
